ONGC Scholarship 2026–27: Complete Guide to Online Application

ONGC Scholarship 2026-27: You got a seat in Engineering or MBBS, but your family income is low and the fees are heavy. Fees, books and hostel add up fast. ONGC Foundation offers a merit scholarship for exactly this case. It is not a loan, so you don’t pay it back.

But the form has two parts, and many students finish only one. First, you need an OTR number from the National Scholarship Portal. After the online form, you must also post printed copies and attested papers to ONGC. Your college head must attest the papers, so plan a few days for that. The marks rule and the income limit for your category are strict, so a small mistake can cancel your form.

Below you will find the amount, who can apply and the income limit for each category, the papers you need, the five steps to apply, how ONGC selects students and the rules for keeping the scholarship every year. Every detail follows the ONGC Foundation notice for 2026-27, checked on 4 November 2026.

What is the ONGC Scholarship?

It is a study scholarship run by ONGC Foundation for students from weaker families. It is for first-year students in Engineering, MBBS, MBA and a Master’s in Geology or Geophysics. The course must be regular and full-time.

Key Points

  • Get your NSP OTR number first, because you cannot apply without it.
  • The online form is not enough. Printed copies with attested papers must also reach ONGC.
  • The ₹48,000 continues each year only if you keep at least 60% and get promoted.

Many students think it also gives a job in ONGC. It does not. It only helps you pay for your studies.

Every selected student gets the same amount, whatever the course. Here is how it looks:

The money goes to your bank account, so give correct bank details in the ECS form.

Apply for ONGC Scholarship Online

If you want to apply for the ONGC Scholarship, please read all the steps below carefully. The form is online, but one part is on paper. We have explained everything below, so just follow the steps one by one:

  • First, you have to register on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and get your OTR number. You cannot start the ONGC form without it.
  • Now go to the official scholarship website, ongcscholar.org. If you are new, choose “First Time Registrant” and take your passkey.
  • After that, log in and open “Apply Scholarship”. Enter your OTR number and fill in your personal and study details.
  • Then upload your documents. Get them attested by your Head, Principal or Dean first.
  • Finally, submit the form and print it. Post it with the attested papers to the ONGC office named in the application format.

My advice: start your OTR registration today, because the last date is close.

ONGC Scholarship Selection Process and Renewal

ONGC picks students by their total marks in Class 12 or graduation. If two students have equal marks, the one with lower family income comes first. Students from BPL families get preference, and ONGC’s decision is final.

To keep the scholarship next year, you must be promoted and score at least 60% marks or 6.0 out of 10 in each year’s exams. If you are not promoted, the scholarship stops.
