CEED 2027: You are in the final year of a design degree, or you have just finished one. CEED is the qualifying exam for M.Des. at 11 institutes: IISc, eight IITs and two IIITDMs. IIT Bombay runs it, and the form is online only. The regular-fee date is only a few days away.
But there are catches. The Information Brochure PDF still shows the old dates, 31 October and 6 November, and IIT Bombay says changes appear only on the website, so follow the website dates. A CEED score alone does not give you a seat, because institutes can hold their own tests or interviews and check your papers again. Your rank is also made on the category you choose, and an incomplete form is rejected.
Below, you will find the dates, the fee for each category, who can apply, the papers to keep ready and the six steps to apply. Every date and fee here comes from the official CEED website and brochure, checked on 2 November 2026.

What is CEED 2027?
CEED means Common Entrance Exam for Design. It tests your drawing, visual thinking, logic and creativity. Several IITs and design schools also use it for Ph.D. admission.
Key Points
- Use the website dates, not the brochure PDF, and finish the form by 5 November 2026 to avoid the ₹500 late fee.
- Upload a clear photo, signature and the right category certificate, because wrong or poor files can get your form rejected.
- Choose your three exam cities with care, because they cannot be changed after you submit.
The paper has two parts. Part-A is a computer test of 150 marks in 1 hour. Part-B is a drawing and writing paper of 100 marks in 2 hours. Your final score is 25% of Part-A plus 75% of Part-B, so drawing matters most. The score is valid for 1 year from the result date.
